The South African Institution of Civil Engineering annually awards a certificate to the best final year student in Civil Engineering at each tertiary institution in South Africa.

The award is made to the student achieving the highest marks during his or her diploma/degree the National Diploma in the case of University of Technology or Technikon students, and the four-year degree in the case of University students. The aim of the award is to recognise academic excellence, as well as to stimulate interest in the South African Institution of Civil Engineering.

We are dependent on assistance from your office to ensure that the best 2006 civil engineering student at your institution receives the 2006 SAICE award (in the case of newly merged institutions then a nomination per founder institution will be accepted). We would therefore appreciate it if you could forward the full academic record of the final year student who had achieved the best academic results for 2006, to one of the following addresses, on or before Friday 28 March 2008.

Our local SAICE branch will liaise directly with your office to arrange for an appropriate occasion at which the certificates can be presented.

In future, SAICE will call for these nominations at the beginning of each year with a closing date of 28 March.
