Dawie Botha FSAICE,LIMISA graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1971, was employed by SAR&H, Potchefstroom and Richards Bay Municipalities and the S A Housing Trust. He took up his current position in 1991.
Dawie manages the SAICE National Office of 14 staff members and is supported by his secretary Elsabe.
The National Office consists of 5 sections:
- Executive Director
- Administration
- Communication
- Education and Training
- Finances
In addition to his administrative duties he also acts as full time spokesman and representative for the Institution. He provides support for and advice to the Office Bearers, the Executive Committee and all other committees.
His office is also, for example, responsible for the Official Register, Mediation and Arbitration related issues and Presidential visits.

FRIDAH MAHLANGU
MERRIAM MOLEFE

Memory is responsible for the administrative section and the team which consists of Fridah Mahlangu and Mirriam Molefe. They provide the general administrative and staff support for the National Office.
Their tasks include agendas, minutes, travelling and accommodation arrangements for the meetings of:
- Council
- Executive Committee
- Finance and Administration Committee
- Special Purposes Reserve Fund
- Board of Technicians and Technologists
- Membership Committee
- Electoral College of Fellows
In addition, all staff matters, membership matters and the electronic information systems are attended to in this section.

Manager of the Financial Department: Mrs Debbie Griesel
Debbie is responsible for Elshja Kruger (Debtors) and Magda Bruyns (Creditors). This team handles all financial functions required by the activities of the National Office.
They are supported by Pieter Combrinck (Compacc Consultants) who assists with management reports to the various committees.

Manager of Education Services: Mrs Carla De Jager
Education Services:
Under the direction of Carla, Dawn Hermanus and Angelene Aylward are responsible for:
- The events update
- Arranging of courses/seminars on request and by own initiative
- Marketing and sales of SAICE's internal and other publications, e.g. Thomas Telford publications, etc.
- Co-ordinating and administrative service for the SAICE Annual Congress
- Secretariat to the Education and Training committee
- Publishing of monthly information on events in "Civil Engineering"
- Writing and editing of suitable articles for regular Education and Training Column in "Civil Engineering"
- Updating of information on events on the web page on a weekly basis
- Managing the Empowerment programme for Councillors: "Sustainable infrastructure for African Towns and Cities"
- Managing the SAICE responsibility regarding Professional Registration at ECSA:
- Arranging the Professional Review
- Maintenance and distribution of information package on professional registration
- Publish Essay Topics for professional interview purposes

Communication Services:
Zina Girald and Verelene de Koker are involved in maintaining and enhancing the network and the image of the Institution and the civil engineering profession.
They are assited by Marie Ashpole who is a media and sponsorship specialist and Marthelene Buckle, who is the administrator of the SPEBS bursary scheme.
- supporting the Magazine and Journal production team
- publishing an annual calendar, annual report and presidential address
- co-ordinating the annual adjudication of civil engineering projects and organizing related social functions
- co-ordinating the national awards
- organising the national awards function
- communicating with sister institutions, branches and divisions
- maintaining relations with institutions abroad
- maintaining good relations with the media through press releases, magazine articles and interviews
- designing, maintaining and updating the SAICE website
- co-ordinating the annual international bridge building competition
- organising the annual members banquet and presidantial inauguration
- preparing of certificates and plaques
- archiving of documentation
- sourcing sponsorships for various activities
- administration the SPEBS bursary scheme
- co-ordinating of and participating in career guidance exhibitions
