The Board of Technicians and Technologists (BTT) acts as the focal point for Technician and Technologist activity within SAICE.

BTT consists of 12 members, nominated and elected annually by the Technician and Technologist members of the Institution. BTT usually tries to get representation from all regions country-wide. BTT meets two to three times a year to discuss and decide on matters affecting Technicians and Technologists within the Institution.

BTT nominates Technician and Technologist representatives to the standing committees of SAICE. BTT is also represented on the SAICE Council and Executive Committee. It oversees the SPEBS bursary scheme for civil engineering students at tertiary institutions as well as the adjudication of awards to the best civil engineering students at universities and technikons. It also bestows the SAICE National Technician and Technologist Achiever Award to acknowledge outstanding contributions made to the civil engineering industry or profession by Technician or Technologist members of SAICE. In addition BTT facilitates an email discussion group for technical discussion and general news of interest to civil engineering Technicians and Technologists.

BTT has had a long-standing policy of transformation from within and has achieved some of the highest levels of transformation within the Institution.

Naional Office handles the administration for BTT at SAICE National Office and has been associated with Technicians and Technologists for many years, having been employed in this capacity by the erstwhile SA Institute of Civil Engineering Technicians and Technologists (SAICET).
